Opposites attract they say
The chalk and cheese; the night and day
Place them together, and sparks may fly
As eyes they lock and souls they sigh
Over that instant click of profound connection
Which will grow into deep mutual affection.
They consider each other, prodding, sizing
And almost in surprise, begin realizing
That shared perspectives and common dreams
Will quickly become a recurring theme.
For on the surface they appear diametrically opposed
Yet deep within they are harmoniously composed
Fuelled by differing emotions and ideas
Still sharing the same cluster of hopes and fears.
Like iron on magnet they become hard to separate
And their contrasting personas only exacerbate
The mounting awareness that they belong together
And wish to lock horns in an eternal forever
Although the outside world may yet jeer and scorn
Their souls have collided, true love has been born.
